London: Jonathan Cape, 1964. VG/VG. The first UK edition. First printing with 'First published 1964' and no later edition stated. Original publisher's binding and trimmed dust wrapper. Book has slight lean to the spine base but is tightly bound with good tips and clean cloth boards. Tiny dark marks to salmon-colored top stain. Light toning to decorated endpapers. The textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate, or markings and not BCE, ex-library, or remaindered. The dust jacket is unclipped (18s net) with chipping to spine ends and tips and some shelf wear (see photos). Protected in a new Brodart Mylar cover. 192 pages. 5 x 8" tall.
The memoir details Hemingway's years and struggles as an expat journalist and writer in Paris in the 1920s. It deals with personal dramas such as his first marriage, and provides commentary on the lives of the 'lost generation' in Interwar France.
