The Cisco SM-X-ES3-24-P= is a plug-in service module that adds full Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching to compatible Cisco Integrated Services Routers. It brings enterprise-class performance directly into the router chassis, so branch offices and campus floors can consolidate networking gear without giving up speed or features.

The module presents 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports that can each deliver PoE+ power, providing up to 30 watts to devices such as IP phones, security cameras, or wireless access points. By carrying data and power over a single cable, it reduces rack clutter and simplifies moves, adds, and changes.

A dedicated processor, switching engine, and flash memory keep switching and routing tasks off the router CPU, which prevents bottlenecks even when traffic grows.
